Polishing plastic is as much art as it is science and it tends to be a very specialized skill even among the most veteran of fabricators. We have methods of polishing acrylics and polycarbonates, among others, and we continue to research better methods for these plastics and new methods for other plastics as well. Polishing can be used to return cut edges to the original look and to buff scratches and other damage from sheets, lenses, and other products. While it can add cost to a plastic fabrication project there is no disputing the improvement it makes to the overall look and quality of an item. This is why we tend to recommend it for items such as displays, podiums, museum shelves, stands, art frames and other applications that need to look their very best.
