Styrene or HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) is a very useful low cost non-toxic plastic that is very workable and has many useful properties. It is very lightweight and cuts extremely well including with die-cutting technologies. It is very thermoformable and can be vacuum-formed easily as well. It exhibits excellent dimensional stability and strength for its weight and density. It can be painted and works well with the appropriate glues and solvents.
Styrenes is most often supplied in sheet form and can be used for low cost indoor signs and lithographs, prototypes, packaging, containers, dividers, panels and toys. It can also be used for printing, painting and silk-screening applications, and comes in a wide variety of colors.
